The best Daytona factory in 2026 depends on the reference, but the community guide gives a clear starting order. The May 29, 2026 update of the r/RepTime "Who Makes the Best" spreadsheet ranks VSF first, QF (free-sprung) second and BTF third for the steel Daytona, both the older 116XXX models and the current 126500LN. The February 2026 version had BTF second and QF third. Owner reports since then add one more name for the 126500 Panda: RWF.

How the community view changed from 2025 to 2026
In a May 2025 r/RepTime thread, buyers were divided between Clean (often with a replacement crystal) and VSF. Then, on July 14, 2025, r/RepTime reported a raid on Clean Factory. The February 2026 guide removed Clean and ranked VSF, BTF and QF. The May 29, 2026 update moved the free-sprung QF ahead of BTF; its maintainer wrote of being "not hyper into Daytonas" and left VSF as best "just for safekeeping". Later threads show more disagreement on the Panda:
- May 2026: VSF was the general recommendation; BTF was a strong 116500 choice. One buyer said their dealer quoted a wait of a few weeks for VSF because of demand for the DD4131 movement, and suggested a QF 126500 with a free-sprung movement.
- September 16, 2026: an owner returned a VSF 126500 for a BTF. The owner preferred the BTF case and found the VSF pushers too long.
- October 7, 2026: in one thread, a commenter recommended both VSF and BTF, and another wrote that RWF makes the best 126500 Panda now and that the VSF dial color and bezel are off.
These are opinions with few votes. They show a split, not a new ranking.
Best Daytona factory, part by part
Dial. A May 2026 hands-on comparison found the newer VSF 126500 Panda dial too pale against earlier, warmer batches. The same review liked the white tone of RWF, but found "SWISS MADE" in the wrong position and one seconds marker too short. A September 2026 VSF 116500 owner said the red DAYTONA text sits too high above the lower sub-dial.
Sub-dial rings. The 2026 Panda argument is about the width of the sub-dial rings, not about the position of the sub-dials. In May 2026 owners linked the thick sub-dial rings to certain VSF serial batches. Check the rings in your QC photos.
Bezel. On the 126500, look at the triangle near "110". A September 2026 owner comparison of three Panda Daytonas found it wrong on all three, and named Gold, RWF and EWE as factories with the correct version.
Case and pushers. Several 2026 owners preferred the BTF case. Nobody has posted a current caliper test of all factories, so do not choose on a thickness number.
Movement. The community guide lists a 4130 clone for the top 116500 versions and a 4131 clone for the 126500. VSF also sold cheaper 4801 versions, but in September 2026 an owner wrote that VSF no longer makes them "at the MOMENT"; do not mix them up. QF and RWF now offer free-sprung movements. Free-sprung is not proof of better reliability, and nobody has a failure rate.
Crystal. Owners in 2025 praised the clarity of the VSF stock crystal. A replacement crystal is a matter of taste, not a repair.
How to choose the best Daytona factory
- 116500LN Panda or black: VSF, QF (free-sprung) or BTF, all with a 4130 clone and all NWBIG in the May 2026 guide. Pick the better QC photos.
- 126500LN Panda: compare VSF, BTF and RWF. Check the sub-dial rings, the bezel triangle near "110" and "SWISS MADE".
- You want free-sprung: QF or RWF. Ask your dealer to confirm the movement version in writing.
- A dealer offers "Clean" or "Noob": treat it as old or uncertain stock and ask for movement photos.
